Pumpkin Carving &

Fireside Storytime

Sunday, October 29

5-7pm

Come carve jack o'lanterns and paint pumpkins to decorate your doorstep for Halloween! ArtWaves supplies the pumpkins.  Cider and hot cocoa will be served as we light our jack'o' lanterns, and sit together by the fireside for poetry and storytime inspired by the shifting seasons!

Storytime sneak peak! We will kick things off with "Song of the Witches" from Shakespeare's MacBeth (copies will be available so we can all read it together!):

"Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon's blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble!

Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

$5 registration fee per person or $5 for families.

Costumes welcome!

Thank you to Coastal Maine Realty for supporting this event!

ArtWaves Refund Policy is as follows:

  • If somebody cancels prior to seven days before the class, we will apply the full class tuition as a credit to be used at ArtWaves.

  • If someone cancels within a week, we can provide 50% credit.  This ensures the class will not be canceled due to low enrollment, and the Artist Instructor will still be paid.

  • If a class is rescheduled, (due to weather, illness, etc.) and participants cannot participate at the new date/time, participants will have the option to 1) apply the credit to another ArtWaves class or 2) to receive a refund.

If you are feeling ill or experiencing symptoms, please call or text 207-266-0010 before coming to class.

Your tax-deductible donations help support ArtWaves, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. Our mission is to make art accessible to the Mount Desert Island and surrounding communities.
