KIDS Theatre Workshop: Puppet Adventures

Ages 6 - 12 (flexible for sibling groups)

Saturday, August 19

10:30 am - 1 pm

Please send your child with a packed snack & lunch!

Join us for a day of fun with puppets! Students will have the chance to try out puppets of various sizes -- some puppets fit right on your finger while others require teamwork to move -- as well as time set aside for puppet design and creation!

Come create your own unique puppet using cloth, cardboard, yarn, twigs, pinecones, and more!

We will explore character creation through movement, vocal, and backstory choices. For example: Does your puppet move swiftly and lightly like a small bird? Or do they storm around like a grumpy giant? Do they have a deep voice? A silly voice? Do they only speak in rhymes? As we answer these and other questions, we build our puppet's characteristics and personality!

Bring your puppet to life through the wonder of theatre, creativity, and imagination!

Meet your instructors:

Georgia Williamina Zildjian & Kelly Mirado Cutler

Georgia Williamina Zildjian grew up along the coast of Maine. She is a playwright, dramaturg, actor, and teaching artist. She holds a BFA in Theatre Arts from Boston University’s College of Fine Arts, School of Theatre. She has taught theatre up and down the Maine Coast at Portland Stage, Ellsworth High School, The Grand Theatre, and in her home town of Castine. She is the founder of the Castine Arts Association’s Youth Summer Theatre Camp, which has run consecutively since 2010.

In addition to teaching theatre, she has worked consistently as a playwright, actor, producer, and dramaturg for numerous productions, six of her own creation. She is the co-founder and playwright-in-residence of Tandem Theatre Collective, a geographically separated, though aesthetically linked, group of artists dedicated to innovative methods of creating theatre and devising new works.

Kelly Mirado Cutler grew up on the coast of Maine. She studied storytelling, improv, stand up, and sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in NYC. Kelly loves creating opportunities for others to engage their imaginations and access their creativity through collaborative exploration of theatre arts. She has worked with Georgia Zildjian at Castine Arts Association’s Youth Summer Theatre Camp for roughly a decade and adored every wild moment of it.
