Join Gabrielle for instructed sessions on each weekly topic - feel free to bring your questions and current work in progress! See the syllabus below.

Sundays from 10:00am to 12:00pm, please arrive early to settle in before class begins.

$42 per session, sign up for 1, a few, or all! materials included ($32 for members)

Ages 14 years and up of all skill levels

Masks, vax'd (over 5), and distancing for staff and participant safety.

July 3 - Join this ArtWaves workshop and learn about how to compose a drawing. In this workshop you will learn how to make your drawings more visually appealing and how to balance them, so you get the appropriate feelings across. You will be given a still life to draw then draw it in different compositions to see how it impacts the piece. You should have prior drawing experience, but do not need to know much about composition. Graphite and colored pencils will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own materials.

July 10 - character interaction

July 17 - storyboarding

July 24 - worldbuilding

July 31 - transcribing graphic novels (My favorite is Tilly Walden. Do you have a favorite?)

August 7 - short comic

Aug 14 - character design

Aug 21 - fantastic animals

Aug 28 - drawing from a different perspective

About the instructor: Gabrielle is a young illustrator and multimedia artist. She grew up on a small island in Maine, and consistently finds her art influenced by her upbringing. She worked for the Illustration institute based out of Portland Maine in 2020 producing a short documentary series about how drawing influences thinking. Gabrielle is currently enrolled at College of the Atlantic and is on course to graduate with a study in visual narratives. When she’s not drawing or crafting you can find her planning her next cross-country bike tour.
