Ukulele Playing for the Beginner- Getting Started Workshop

Have you been thinking about learning to play the ukulele, but have lots of questions about getting started, such as:

-Is the uke an easy (or difficult) instrument to learn?

-Do I have to have a music background to begin playing the uke?

-Which of the many ukuleles available is best for me?

-Where do I find information on songs to learn?

-Can I learn to play by myself, or do I need individual lessons?

-Where might I find others to play ukulele with?

-etc.

This workshop will help to answer these questions and any others you might have and give you a nudge towards becoming a ukulele player.

Saturday, March 19th from 12 to 1:30pm

$32.50 ($22.50 for members)

Free for current and retired educators!  Just email office@artwavesmdi.org for the discount code.

Adults and Teens

Bring along a ukulele (borrowed if you don't already own one) and we'll provide what you need to dip your fingers (not toes) into playing. (A digital tuner would be useful but not totally necessary for this workshop.)

Masks, vax'd, and distancing for staff and participant safety.

About the instructor: Rick is a retired MDI public school educator. He has played music for over 50 years and is a founding member of several performing musical groups in the area. He has taught ukulele workshops through MDI adult Ed. and has been an organizer of several local "Song Circles." You can hear some of Rick's solo ukulele playing here: YouTube Link
