ArtWaves and the Maine Arts & Humanities Commision is “Firing up” with a free event to continue public awareness of domestic abuse as a follow up to sponsoring the Finding Our Voices 2020 summer banner exhibit.
ArtWaves is calling out to the community to respond in clay,
(at no cost to you). The clay can be picked up at ArtWaves. Any self identified artists 16 and older can participate. Create a piece at home that speaks to the issue, it can be an object to acknowledge and comfort or more graphically emotional. Return the pieces to ArtWaves - by October 9th be bisqued then fired in an outdoor communal firing on October 23rd.
A public exhibit will follow at the Northeast Harbor Library from November 1st to December 30th which is a great time and place to pick up your finished pieces. Engaging the mind, heart and body, this project is an opportunity to raise awareness by responding in a visual manner to domestic abuse with clay.
