Robert Haskell

There are things in life we want to express but cannot put into words. Thoughts and feelings are sometimes so powerful we struggle to convey them at all. Our inner emotional life cries out to be expressed and art can deliver us new and interesting interpretations of these intangible things. Through an intuitive working process I create artwork that uses a primitive visual language to express the complex interactions, chaotic circumstances and the humor in everyday life.

I create work in many different mediums. A short list includes: drawing, painting, printmaking, graphic design, video, photography, welding, forging, glass blowing, found object assemblage, carving, casting.

I received an AA in Fine Art form Southern Maine Community College in 2011, and a BA in sculpture from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 2014. My formal training also includes study at the Oxbow School in Napa, CA; The Maine College of Art in Portland, ME; and workshops at The Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle, ME.

My work is available for purchase at, and at the ArtWaves gallery in Bar Harbor. You can contact me through my Etsy or Facebook for questions or to request a commission.
