I began my life of dance at the age of three, taking ballet classes with Joanne Torti-Robb in the space that is now Art Waves. I studied Russian-technique ballet with Cheryl Libitzki for seven years, which I owe my discipline, alignment, and grace to. Throughout my mid-childhood, I consistently attended the Summer Festival of the Arts, taking EVERY dance class possible, and was exposed to a myriad of phenomenal teachers and mentors, including "Hairball" Harold (Hip Hop), Lucy Hutchins (African), and Bridgette (jazz/modern). Starting in fourth grade, I began entering talent contests/lip syncs for the sheer love of performing (Spice Girls, Alanis Morissette, Evanescence, and Linkin Park, anyone?) I danced and competed on the Northern Lights Dance team as a lyrical soloist under the guidance and choreography of Kathie Jamison Cote. It was then that I was able to apply my classical foundation to freedom of movement. I got Zumba-certified in 2013 and Buti Yoga- and Barre, and HIIT-certified in October 2017. I can HONESTLY say that dance, fitness, and movement has been my longest-running love affair and I believe that it will continue to drive me when life gets tough. It has taught me so much about myself, my flexibility, strength, and poise.
