Painting Volume in oil, starts February 14.

Cost: From $210

Description: Whether you want to paint realistic looking still lives, lifelike portraits or abstract shapes from your imagination, learning how to create the illusion of volume in a painting is vital to achieving a good result. Using simple geometric forms this class will cover the basics of the renaissance technique of rendering volume in layers of grisaille. In addition to painting technique this class will also introduce a variety of painting mediums.

Skill Level: This course is open to painting students of all levels, but some painting experience is helpful.

Start-End Dates: Five weeks, Wednesdays 6-9PM, 2/14/18-3/14/18.

Cost: $210 members $220 Non-Members (Includes materials fee of $35)

Minimum Enrollment: 6

 

Materials: Students should bring a few #4, #6 and #8 natural bristle flat and round oil painting brushes. I will provide prepared panels to paint on as well as paints, mediums and an assortment of sable and synthetic brushes to experiment with, along with everything else you will need. Easels are provided but if you have a portable easel you are welcome to bring it.
About the instructor:
Ben Lincoln grew up and currently lives and works on MDI. He attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, graduated with a diploma in painting and was awarded a prestigious Traveling Scholarship from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts in 1995. He has worked professionally as an artist for over 20 years and is currently represented by The Littlefield Gallery in Winter Harbor, ME and the Elizabeth Moss Galleries in Falmouth, ME. His work is held in numerous private and corporate collections around the world.
