At ArtWaves, we explore crafts from every direction: stained glass, printmaking, fiber arts, ceramics, bookbinding are just a few of the classes we offer. We welcome students at all levels and abilities to join in.
6 to 9pm, Friday November 17, start your weekend with color. Teens and adults are invited to join us for a fun evening assembling your own piece of fall inspired artwork using glass, stones, and shells. Whether you are intrigued by the shift in nature's radiant colors or by the festive ornaments of upcoming Holidays, you choose your subject! This workshop is one of three. Wednesday, Dec 6. 6 to 8pm
Needle felting is a fun and easy way to make cute little characters to use as decorations, trim packages, or give as gifts. Using wool roving, a special barbed needle and a foam pad, you simply shape and poke until your creation is formed.
All materials are provided for the workshop, and you can take your needle and foam pad home with you to continue creating.Participants will get a coupon for 10% off felting supplies from Spruce & Gussy .
You can bring a picture of something you would like to make, or use your imagination!
(Since the needles are sharp, this workshop is for ages 11 and up only).

Art Jam - Sweater Stockings / Thursday, Dec. 7 ,3:30-5:30
Create a unique Christmas stocking or mittens using old sweaters, buttons, felt and wool, beads and sequins. It will be a fun opportunity to create art that will keep you toasty and/or as decor to be hung on your mantle this Holiday.
Sippin’ & Mitten / Friday, Dec. 8, 6:00-8:00
Join us for a fun and social night of mitten making. In this workshop you will be stitching together your own custom pair of ultra cozy mittens made from recycled sweaters. The sweaters used will be made of natural wool, unless preferred otherwise. Buttons will be provided for accenting. Feel free to felt on top of your mitten design before sewing your pieces together for extra snazz. This workshop is for ages 21 and up. Wine and tea will be provided. Feel free to bring a snack too.
Teens & Tweens Needle Felting / Friday, Dec. 8, 3:30-5
Learn the basics of needle felting on your favorite article of clothing or winter beanie or scarf. Create a design on paper and transfer your image to an article of clothing of your choice using pure, colorful sheep’s wool. Your may also choose to create your design as a patch or picture on felt, to hang up and admire.
*All materials provided, just be sure to bring something unique to felt on or use backgrounds provided.
Art Jam - Paint Techniques on Paper / Thursday, Dec.14, 3:30-5:30
12 yrs and up. This workshop explores some of the many ways that you can apply paint to paper. In the beginning you will learn painting styles and focus on playing and experimenting using natural objects (such as feathers), layered printmaking, daubing, swirling, and brush stamping, wax and glue resists and more. Afterward you will have time to create your own expressive painting. The theme of the workshop will be based on the Winter Solstice, which is occurs on December 21st (think starry sky and moon paintings), but participants are free to choose any subject matter.

Create a one of a kind Native American inspired dreamcatcher or wall hanging using natural materials, both found and new. Learn to spider weave, bead and dream. Drift wood, sticks, feathers, shells, twine, wire and beads will be provided.
Up-cycled Inspiration Journals from Vintage Books / Thursday, Dec. 28, 3:30-5:30
This workshop is based on the art of recycling and the freedom of creating something new from something old. You will begin with an old hardcover book and turn it into your own useable notebook. Your journal should reflect you, the colors you like, poems and/or quotes, and more through the process of altered book making. You will be using paint, sponges, stamps, glue, paper, etc to create a layered, aged, colorful, textural book for your sketching or journaling delight. All materials are provided, but feel free to bring photos, feathers, or other keepsakes to personalize your book.

Faux Finish Techniques for Art & Home / Friday, Jan. 5, 6-8:00
Faux means fake. In this workshop you will focus on learning period finishes-paint textures and effects. Texture adds interest to any project and is very important when creating particular moods and emotions in art. Some of the techniques we will focus on are: veined marble, stucco plaster, granite, malachite, aged leather and wood grain. Samples will be displayed and discussed and then the fun comes into play where you will practice and create your own samples for later use.

Dreamcatchers & Wall Adornments
Create a one of a kind Native American inspired dreamcatcher or wall hanging using natural materials, both found and new. Drift wood, sticks, feathers, shells, twine, wire and beads will be provided. Please feel free to bring any of your own materials to personalize your individual project (shells from a past trip, special beads, broken jewelry, crystals, gemstones, bones, etc.). You can keep this project simple or go all out with your imagination and allow your ornamental piece to tell a story with the objects you've added. The possibilities are endless.
