A native of central Maine, Marsha Donahue holds degrees in painting and printmaking from the Maine College of Art and American University in Washington, D.C. She has been influenced by Homer, Sargent, and many of the Ashcan and Modernist schools.

She has shown her work since the early 1980's in Washington, D.C. and in Maine while working in gallery administration. She moved to Millinocket in 2004 and established North Light Gallery and represents 18 artists, including herself, who paint the Katahdin region.
