Jean is a retired art teacher living year round in Southwest Harbor. She is greatly influenced by her Maine surroundings. Jean enjoys capturing the light and colors of different times and moods of the day in her paintings of landscapes, seascapes and harbor activities.
Jean has a BS from University of RI (1972) and MAE from Rhode Island School of Design (1989). In 1996 Jean received a fellowship from NEH to study “The Major Paintings of Winslow Homer” at Syracuse University. Jean has also studied watercolor for 4 years with John Loughlin of Lincoln, RI and for 13 years with Betty Lou Schlemm of Rockport, MA. Most recently she has taken classes with Judy Taylor.
